Tell Your Legislators: Act for Growth and Opportunity. Act for Affordable Homes.
It’s almost impossible for hardworking people to find a home to rent or buy in Connecticut. That’s outrageous, and it needs to change.
Earlier this year, the legislature passed a bill that would have given towns flexibility to get creative about solutions, but Governor Lamont vetoed it. The Governor and legislature are considering holding a special session on November 12 and 13, but they might not put housing on the agenda. Governor Lamont and the legislature need to know that people are fed up with waiting for housing we can afford.
Rent is too high, and buying a home is unaffordable. Your legislators need to hear from you now.
Affordable homes is about growth and opportunity for all of us. It’s about protecting seniors hoping to stay in their towns, young families trying to build their futures, and people looking for solid community. It’s about rent not taking up our whole paychecks, and the ability to buy a house when and if we’re ready.
Tell your legislators to put affordable homes on the special session agenda now.
This campaign is an initiative by the Connecticut Project Action Fund, a non-partisan 501(c)4 non-profit organization that mobilizes people and partners to advocate for solutions that better the lives of Connecticut's working families.
Dear - Legislator's full name goes here - ,
As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to support growth and opportunity by putting affordable homes on the special session agenda and supporting a housing bill.
It’s outrageous that hardworking people can’t afford to rent or own a home in Connecticut. Our state has to start getting creative about solving the housing crisis, because working class and middle class people need relief.
When people are priced out of our towns and state, we all suffer – we lose connections to our neighbors, family members, and friends, and our economy is worse off.
Please prioritize working class people by supporting a bill that allows for creative, flexible housing solutions, including building more affordable options, letting towns safely convert unused spaces into quality housing, and allowing pilot programs that enable people to avoid long waitlists for housing help.
Thank you,
