FIELD ORGANIZER, THE CONNECTICUT PROJECT

Hillary Desideraggio
Hillary is a Field Organizer at The Connecticut Project. Her responsibilities include mobilization, recruitment, and the training and development of community members. She also contributes to The Connecticut Project’s policy solution campaigns by assembling teams to support the interests of lower-income and asset-limited households.

Hillary has joined The Connecticut Project after nearly a decade of organizing, largely in the electoral arena, working on campaigns ranging from City Council to US Senate. She also spent time as a legislative aide for a Connecticut Senator and has worked with organizations such as the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition and the Connecticut Democratic Socialists of America to organize communities on issues of housing and racial justice.

Why do you do “the work?”

I do the work because we live in a world of ever-increasing isolation, where the powerful few stay powerful by encouraging a culture of isolation and fear. When we organize in our communities, we break through that isolation and bring people together, combating fear with hope and teaching community members the tools needed to bring the power a bit closer to home.

What are some specific places or things you love in Connecticut?

I love the multicultural city of New Britain that I live in, but my heart will forever be connected to the sweet family and community org farms of Granby where I grew up. I am especially fond of Holcomb Farm which has a wonderful CSA of fresh veggies and fruits and is surrounded by beautiful nature trails and sweet babbling brooks for exploring and playing in to nurture our inner child.
