Affordability. Fairness. Connecticut needs a renter’s tax credit

We’ve got to make Connecticut more affordable for working class people. It’s outrageous that housing is so expensive, even hardworking people struggle to afford rent in Connecticut.

Around one in three Connecticut residents is a renter. And half of Connecticut renters are considered “cost burdened.”

A renter’s tax credit would help make Connecticut more affordable and fair for working class people, our communities, and our economy.

The Connecticut legislature needs to create a meaningful renter’s tax credit for working and middle class renters, now. The tax credit would:

  • Provide renters who make up to $75,000 with up to $2,500 in annual tax credits
  • Put working Connecticut families first, not corporate landlords
  • Treat renters fairly

The legislature has introduced SB 1 and HB 5114, which include strong renter’s tax credits. You can help make it happen.

This campaign is an initiative by the Connecticut Project Action Fund, a non-partisan 501(c)4 non-profit organization that mobilizes people and partners to advocate for solutions that better the lives of Connecticut's working families.
