NEW HAVEN Governor Lamont today announced the retirement of Beth Bye, Commissioner of the Office of Early Childhood, and the nomination of Elena Trueworthy as her successor.

The following is a reaction from Garth Harries, President and CEO of The Connecticut Project Action Fund:

“Commissioner Bye has been a relentless champion of Connecticut’s children and working families, and her boundless energy and optimism culminated in Connecticut’s historic commitment to young children and families in the last legislative session, with partnership from the Governor and legislature. We wish Commissioner Bye the best in her next chapters, are thankful for her years of service, and are glad that we will still call her a friend. Connecticut is at a pivotal moment in delivering affordable, quality child care, and we look forward to working with Deputy Commissioner Trueworthy and many other partners to ensure the promise of the universal child care endowment is fulfilled. ”
